Halliwells' Liverpool team races ahead

A corporate team from Halliwells' Liverpool office has advised Benfield Sports International (BSI) on its purchase of Reading Speedway from Wychwood Presentations. As of 2006, it is intended that Reading Speedway will be represented as the eleventh club in the Skybet Elite League.

BSI is a successful sports marketing consultancy, providing independent advice on a range of sponsorship issues, ranging from strategic relevance and contract negotiation to sponsorship exploitation and maximising returns. BSI has been very successful with speedway at an international level and this purchase enables them to be involved at domestic level.

Halliwells' corporate team was led by partner Jonathan Brown who joined the Liverpool office from DLA Piper in September. He was assisted by solicitor Anton Stirrett.

Commenting on the deal, Jonathan said:

"It has been BSI's intention for sometime to be involved in speedway at a domestic level, following its success with the international series. This deal is an important step forward."

Continued Jonathan:

"Our Liverpool office has a number of deals in the pipeline at the moment. The market is in good shape."
